A litter of seven strays who arrived at the shelter needing a little TLC, which was provided by a foster family so lively and quick we knew it must have been St. Nick! Misty is a beautiful blue gray kitten with a shimmering coat and piercing eyes, and she has a twin brother. Misty may look a little blue to some, but she is a little ray of sunshine. She always comes to greet me when entering the room and is very playful. She also likes being held and lounging in my lap. She is the quiet type, yet outgoing. Misty is alert, inquisitive, and adventurous. Her development is progressing and should continue with a little TLC. She has adjusted well to new surroundings, experiences, and is first to explore her environment. She is active and enjoys the mental and physical stimulation. Misty delights in running, jumping, climbing, and wrestling with her littermates. She also enjoys pouncing on her favorite toys. Misty is well adjusted, confident, and affectionate. She traveled well in a carrier/vehicle and was easy to handle during vet visits. Misty’s socialization skills will continue to develop with a good family. All Misty wants for Christmas is a forever home. Please adopt her!!` ***
I am not currently at the shelter because I`m growing big and strong in a foster home! You can sign up to pre-adopt me by placing a $50 choice hold. This is a non-refundable fee that does not go towards my adoption fee, but it does give you the first opportunity to adopt me. Shelter staff will contact you when I’m ready to go home with my new family! To place a choice hold, you can either come into the shelter or call us at 719-473-1741; you may wait to speak with a customer service representative or leave a voicemail. Choice holds are placed on a first-come, first-serve basis and only one choice hold can be placed on an animal.

We provide compassionate care for nearly 5,000 animals each year. Most of the animals that come to our shelter are either pets relinquished by their owners or stray pets found wandering in the areas we serve. Dogs and cats are the most common, although a wide variety of other animals may be found at the shelter as well, including birds, snakes, fish, hamsters and guinea pigs.
