My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Takia is a beautiful, sweet young dog with strikingly unique eyes—one of each color! She is well-mannered, potty trained, and loves affection, though she can be a little shy when meeting new people or adjusting to new places. This is understandable, given her recent life changes: she gave birth to a litter of puppies, was rescued, and is now settling into her foster home.

As she continues to warm up, it’s clear Takia craves human companionship and loves to be near her people. Despite her past, she’s eager to learn and still has the playful, curious spirit of a puppy. She gets along well with other dogs when introduced properly and enjoys playtime, but she doesn’t quite understand cats and tends to leave them alone.

Takia is still learning to relax and enjoy life outside of survival mode, and she’s discovering the joys of toys, especially when it comes to chewing. She loves to cuddle close to her humans, basking in the warmth and comfort of a soft bed or couch. Though she’s still getting the hang of treats, she’s already a fan of mealtime.

Takia is making great progress with crate training, and she’s been accident-free in the house. She will benefit from continued leash training and commands like sit or stay, but with patience and consistency, she will thrive. Takia will do best in a family that offers her the grace, love, and stability she needs as she embraces her new life as part of a family.

More about this rescue

Camp Companion is a 501c3 organization established in 2003.

Based in Rochester MN, the organization is totally driven by volunteers.

Camp Companion is dedicated to providing low-cost spay and neuter services for feral, farm and stray companion animals. The organization is funded solely by donations, fundraisers, grants, and adoption fees. All funds we receive are used for veterinary expenses and the cost of care incurred for the animals waiting for their forever homes.

Through our spay / neuter efforts, we encounter kittens and stray domestic cats that need rescue services and a forever home. We have no shelter, but rely on foster homes to care for these rescued pets. Every animal we offer for adoption is spayed or neutered.
