My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MODESTO, CA (Transport Available):  Toes is a handsome void cat who isn’t just your average feline—he’s a polydactyl, meaning he has extra toes!  Toes sports an impressive 22 toes: 6 on each front paw and 5 on each back paw. These unique cats are often called “mitten cats” or “Hemingway cats” because their front paws resemble mittens, and Ernest Hemingway famously adored polydactyl cats, filling his estate with them.

Toes is a 14-pound lover boy who is all about the affection and cuddles. He enjoys warming laps, bird-watching from the window, and keeping a watchful eye on the neighborhood activity. He’s approximately 4-5 years old. He is in his prime and ready to find his forever home!

Although Toes is very healthy, he is FIV positive, a result of his time living outside at an apartment complex in Turlock. A kind caretaker looked after him for at least a year trying to get him adopted or rescued. During that time, Toes sustained a bite wound from another FIV+ cat but thanks to antibiotics and care, he’s fully healed and thriving.

About FIV:
FIV isn’t a big deal! It simply means Toes has a slightly weakened immune system, so his adopter will need to monitor him for common illnesses like colds, respiratory infections, and stay on top of his dental health with regular vet visits (twice a year is ideal). With proper care, FIV cats can live just as long and happy a life as non-FIV cats—and they can even live with FIV-negative cats, as long as they get along. FIV is only spread through deep bite wounds meaning cats sharing food bowls and litter boxes is completely safe!

Toes has had a full vet checkup, including a bloodwork panel which was normal, and he is in excellent health. In his foster home, he’s been a perfect gentleman, getting along with all the resident kitties. To keep Toes healthy and living as long as possible, he will need to be a strictly indoor cat, and all other resident cats will need to be kept up to date on vaccinations & indoor only.

Toes is on the lookout for his purr-fect person to love, cherish, and treat him like the prince he is. Could you be the one to give this sweet, special boy the forever home he deserves?

Toes was born in approximately June 2020. He has been neutered and is up to date on his shots.
