My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Rudy was brought in by their previous owner.

Why Rudy might be the one for you:
Meet Rudy, with a very shiny black coat and a crooked tail makes him a very hunky guy. Rudy use to start off shy but that is mostly in his past. Now, if you listen carefully, you will hear a little chirp and purr from him which means he would welcome your attention. And, if you baby talk to him, he will really like it. He flops on the floor for pets, or burrows his head in your hand for pets. . He will make it known with chirps when he is hungry or in need of some love! He will follow with purrs and maybe even a rollover for a belly rub. He may need a special diet for some health issues but that will not slow him down from living a happy, healthy life. If you're looking for a playful and head bunting cat who sometimes plays shy but who will be your loyal companion, come by our San Diego Campus and meet Rudy today!

At SDHS:
Ruby has been vaccinated, microchipped, spayed/neutered and is now ready for their new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
