My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Next on our newest adoptable list of gems: Topaz!

Topaz came to TCR from another rescuer in dire need of placement for her and her 6 “siblings” who were living outside. At the time, the weather was about to get colder and some of the kittens in the group were showing signs of a nasty upper respiratory infection. Most of the kittens were underweight and we feared they wouldn’t make it outside much longer.

Topaz was the hardest gem to crack! At first, she was very fearful and combative with her foster mom and hated getting her initial medications. Over time, Topaz was put by herself so that she could learn to trust people and bond with her foster mom one on one. This is where she really excelled- she began to meow, purr, make muffins, and paw for more pets! Eventually, Topaz was moved into a room with her siblings and some other foster kittens and became an even more loving catten. Topaz has really began to shine so bright and has (secretly) become a favorite in her foster’s home. Topaz may be shy at first with new people, but once she acclimates, she can’t get enough of the love! She really loves pets and has become a very different cat than the one she came in as. Topaz is always starving for attention and has really began to enjoy sitting on laps! Topaz is as sweet as can be but does still have the kitten-y playful side. She loves just about any toy and loves to chase and play with all of the kittens she’s living with. We believe that she could do well with children, as long as they understand to go slow at first and that it will take some time for her to adjust to a new home, with new sights, smells, and noises. Topaz would do best in a home with another friendly and playful kitty, since she is young and used to having many friends to play with. We believe she could live with dogs as well, with proper intros.

Topaz has a beautiful soft, silky, shiny black coat with BIG round yellow/green eyes, and cute pointy ears! She is approximately 8 months old, spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, FIV/FELV tested negative, dewormed, flea treated, & treated for possible ear mites and an ear infection. If you’re looking for shiny black gem to add to your “collection”, apply for her today!

Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

Typically we talk a little with potential adopters to find a cat who is a good fit before sharing the application.

2.

Approve Application

We check over the application including checking vet references and doing landlord checks.

3.

We spend more time chatting with the adopters to specifically go over any questions from the application and details about the specific cat.

4.

Meet the Pet

Potential adopters have a meet and greet with the cat or kitten in the foster home.

5.

Sign Adoption Contract

At the meet and greet, if all goes well, the adoption contract can be signed, the fee can be paid, and the pet can go home!

Additional adoption info

We try to do our best to make sure we find good fitting, responsible homes, without wasting a lot of our time. Our app has a lot of screening questions which help eliminate potential adopters who might not be serious (they usually just don't return the app), or not a good fit, which is why the in depth interview happens once the app is returned.

More about this rescue

We are a small but dedicated 501c3 nonprofit cat rescue specializing in making one person's garbage kitten another person's forever cat.

Our mission is to reduce feline suffering and overpopulation using a combination of TNR and adoptions. We foster and socialize whenever we have the resources to do so, including behavioral cats and kittens who might otherwise just be candidates for TNR.
