Hi my name is Houdini! I was rescued by myself from a shelter in Downey with a mild upper respiratory infection. I am so thankful Smittens was able to take me in and get me the medication needed to feel better! I got my name because I escaped from my crate with no explanation as to how I got out. But I still do not like to be confined to small spaces. I like to have space to play and relax in. I absolutely LOVE to play and I play hard! I enjoy all kinds of toys, especially the ones I can carry around in my mouth. And I enjoy wrestling with other kittens. I was fostered with 2 other buddies of mine and we all got along well. I like having a companion to play with, cuddle with, and bathe to show my affection. However, I do need a playmate on the same energy level as me that can keep up and play with me. I also loved my foster mom and slept with her every night and would cuddle next to her while she worked or watched tv. Overall, I will make a great companion - I just want to be loved, cuddled, but also given my space to play like a kitty!

Smittens isn’t just another cat rescue.
We are a coalition of volunteers with a spay/neuter mission, dedicated to helping both stray and owned animals in the greater San Diego area get fixed, receive veterinary care, and whatever else they may need! Smittens works with shelters and other rescues to route cats to proper vet care and eventual homes, and we take in stray cats who need help getting off the street. We also support TNR for feral cats, and assist cat and dog owners to get their own pets fixed and vaccinated at a low cost.
