Volunteer Notes: Pesto A559347 was an absolute delight on our Dog Day Out!! He seemed a little apprehensive when he realized we were leaving the shelter, but once I coaxed him into my car with the help of some reassuring words and a treat he relaxed in the backseat with a collagen chew to get some initial anxiety out as we drove to the park. Once we arrived, he loved roaming the park and playground taking in all the new sights and smells. He loved rolling in the leaves and getting his belly rubbed! He was non-reactive to people and other dogs with no barking or misbehavior. He also got some pets (Pesto loves his pets!) from passersby. I took the opportunity of being in a new location to work on Pesto`s unwanted jumping up behavior. Within a few repetitions of rewarding him for four paws on the ground, he was calm and focused. On the ride back to OCAS, he was totally calm after his outing. Pesto is an energetic, fun-loving boy who would be ideal for someone active that wants a great companion to join him/her on new adventures!

Their adoption process
Additional adoption info
Orange County Animal Services has hundreds of adoptable pets at any given time. We operate on a first come, first serve basis to give everyone an equal opportunity.
We strive to place every pet in a furever home, which is why the first step of adoption from our shelter is coming to our location and interacting with the pet of your choice. Adoption applications can be filled out at our shelter once interaction has taken place and are not available online.
Once your application is approved, we will ask for payment of the adoption fee.
Standard adoption fees are $55 for dogs and $40 for cats. Ferrets are $40 to adopt. Pocket pets like rabbits, guinea pigs and hamsters are $15 to adopt.
We ask interested adopters to please come prepared with photo identification.
We welcome adopters from out of county and state, but do not transport animals. Interaction is still required as part of the adoption process.
