Meet Anya, a sweet and gentle soul who loves nothing more than to cuddle up and give kisses. Her mellow and easygoing nature makes her the perfect companion for a calm household. She`s a friend to all, particularly children, with whom she`s exceptionally patient and gentle. Her submissive demeanor means she`s always ready for a belly rub, and she`s never one to turn down a good snuggle session. Anya is a true testament to the joy and love a pet can bring to a home. Her affectionate nature and easygoing personality make her the perfect addition to any family but she might bark at some dogs on occasion. Since she was a stray, we don`t know if she is house trained but she walks well on a leash. She`s eager to share her love and warmth with a family that will cherish her as much as she will them. CAP adoption fees include a variety of services - age-appropriate vaccinations, canine heartworm, and feline leukemia tests, spaying/neutering, deworming treatment, microchipping to name a few - the total value of which exceeds $450. These minimal adoption fees cover only part of each animal's stay at our shelter - please help us keep adoption fees low while maintaining the high quality of care for the animals in our charge by donating and/or volunteering.

Citizens For Animal Protection, founded in 1972, is committed to sheltering, rescuing, and placing homeless animals in loving homes; advocating respect and compassion for all animal life; providing humane education to prevent animal cruelty; and raising awareness in the community of the needs of animals.
CAP is proud to announce that through life-saving adoption and transfer programs and a lot of hard work, we have maintained a placement rate of over 93% for all homeless pets surrendered to our shelter in 2021. In 2021, CAP provided care for 10,260 animals; this includes animals surrendered by the public and transferred in from animal control agencies and rescue groups, animals already in the shelter and foster care program, feral cats trapped/neutered/returned and animals receiving vaccinations and other treatments in our low-cost vaccination clinic, The Cornelius Clinic.
