DUMBLEDORE NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!
Name: Dumbledore Best Guess for Breed: Terrier mix of some type, some Cairn in there perhaps
Best Guess for Age: 5 years as of December 2024 Gender: Male
Approximate Weight: 44 lbs
Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen her with kids or cats but she can be tested if you have them.
Currently Living At: Lucky Dog's South Carolina rescue campus; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get up here after completing heartworm treatrment.
Special Adoption Considerations: Dumbledore is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs. All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care. After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.
We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left!
Dumbledore is Looking For: This gentle pup leapt out of the Potterverse because he had been working so hard and he was just so tired. The idea of being a loyal companion to just a family rather than overseeing hundreds of students and staff, no longer having to deal with Hagrid's beast shenanigans... he couldn't resist.
So now he's offering adoring gazes and tail wags and all the love in his heart in exchange for sniffy walks, world exploration - and knowing he's safe under his own roof, a cherished and well loved part of his own family. What do you say? Is there space in your home and your heart for Dumbledore?
What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this once he has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with his foster
Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog
