My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

TULA / FEMALE / Approx. DOB July 27th, 2024

Meet Tula, a puppy that embodies the perfect blend of sweetness and friendliness. She's independent, yet goofy, gentle yet funny, brave yet smart, playful yet cuddly, and above all, loyal. Tula is a ball of energy, always ready to play fetch or chase her own tail. But she also knows when it's time to calm down and enjoy a good cuddle. Her intelligence shines through in her quick learning of commands and tricks.

Her bravery is evident in her willingness to explore new environments. Her loyalty is undeniable, as she sticks by her human's side through thick and thin. Her goofy nature keeps everyone around her laughing and her gentle soul makes her the perfect companion.
She has a unique marking with a black face and white body and black specs all over adding to her already irresistible charm. Tula has a small injury in her back right leg from a resurfaced fracture from when she was a baby, but it doesn't dampen her spirit or playfulness. Tula is a testament to the saying 'not all heroes wear capes'. Some have four legs and a wagging tail.

Tula's playful spirit ensures that there's never a dull moment with her around. Adopt Tula and bring home not just a pet, but a loyal companion, a source of endless laughter, and a bundle of unconditional love.

Tula has been:
• Spayed
• Vaccinated
• Dewormed
• Treated for fleas and ticks
• Estimated Adult Weight: 35-45lbs

Additional adoption info

When animals in our care at HelpAWS become eligible for adoption, interested parties can apply for a specific animal or for a litter in general by completing the online application,
located at www.helpaws.com/adopt/. Applications are processed by our Adoptions Team, and phone interviews are scheduled with each applicant. The interview is approximately one (1) hour long. After the interview, the Adoptions Team will request photos of the applicant’s home and yard and, if applicable, will conduct a veterinarian check (for applicants with other pets) and/or two (2) reference checks from the list provided by the applicant. Once all phone interviews have been completed and photos reviewed, the Adoptions Team will either approve or deny the applicant. Approvals will be matched with a specific animal based on their lifestyle and the animal’s personality/needs and will be informed via a group chat on Facebook Messenger. The applicant will then receive a follow up email with the relevant adoption details, including the Adoption Agreement, payment expectations and flight info. The animal will then be flown to his/her appropriate destination and transferred into the care of his/her new owner(s).

More about this rescue

HelpAWS (Help Animal Welfare in Saint Lucia) is a 501c3 non-profit corporation founded by Canadian Charlene Troubetzkoy in 2014 after witnessing the severe overpopulation and neglected state of animals on the Eastern Caribbean island of Saint Lucia. HelpAWS is dedicated to enriching the quality of life for both people and animals through education, providing care to stray, abandoned, and/or injured animals, and controlling the animal overpopulation through spay and neuter. As of January 2021, HelpAWs has facilitated the successful adoptions of over 1,000 cats and dogs to Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom and beyond. HelpAWS high volume spay and neuter clinics have sterilized more than 3,000 animals and a team of volunteers on island feeds upwards of 100 stray animals daily.
