Ever want to bring that adorable Opossum outside, inside to be your friend to the end? Look no further than our buddy Possum! He is a 9 year old Chiweenie (that's Dachshund Chihuahua mix). This little guy is the epitome of the word agreeable. He is content in every and every possible situation.
People - he adores attention and affection, so happy to be held and cuddled, but LOVES to go on adventures and walks (NOT on cold days though please!). Dogs - he is calm and friendly with other small pups; larger dogs are intimidating for him, but we don't blame his tiny size!. Cats - no problem! He's very respectful of their boundaries. Kids - of course! Tested and approved, as long as they are small dog savvy. This little guy has a genetic hair loss condition that is stable and not an issue - he just is mostly hairless and all he will need is a wardrobe to keep him warm and some pup friendly sunscreen in the summer - low maintenance guy! One of our experienced Placement Team members will meet with you and show you the cat, kitten or dog you are interested in, or will guide you towards cats, kittens or dogs that are appropriate for your home environment. We will discuss with you the background of the cat, kitten or dog and what special needs or requirements he or she may have. We will happily take the time to carefully answer any questions you have or discuss any concerns.
POA does not charge an adoption “fee.” It costs POA anywhere from $100 and $400, or more, per dog or cat or kitten to make them well and prepare them for adoption. We are an all-donation organization and we rely on adoption donations to help us continue our work. When you adopt a cat or dog, we will ask for a donation. Our adoption donation information can be found at our website at www.poainc.org.
