My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Friendly and loyal and affectionate and social and adaptable and trainable and SO smart, all of the things that good dogs are made of! Meet one of the goodest girls in the world, Rita!

This stunning girl is suspected to be a Black Lab, Pittie mix. We estimate her to be around 2 years old. Rita is a rescue, so her exact age and breed are unknown to us and cannot be guaranteed.

Fall in love with Rita here: https://youtu.be/0ZDJdsrUf_E?feature=shared

Rita has all of the makings of a truly GOOD dog. She has an awesome temperament, she’s great with other dogs- so tolerant and playful with them, she’s great at navigating all kinds of doggy interactions. Rita plays with other dogs with joy and abandon… in bursts! She’s quick to take a break after a ten or fifteen minutes of play, a fantastic display of her well balanced energy level. Rita is also a total nature girl- she doesn’t mind getting her paws muddy, and jumped straight into the swimming pool here at the rescue! A total water dog, this girl will be an amazing adventure buddy.

Rita is such a people-focused and affectionate girl, but not too pushy about her affection-needs. In Rita’s quest for pets, so far she’s learned that a few things work: rubbing up against your legs, or sitting down between your legs while you’re standing, and gazing up at you with her beautiful big brown doe eyes.

Rita is so, so smart and highly trainable. She’s food-motivated, and her routine check-ins with humans tell me that she sees herself as more of a “follower” than a “leader.” This girl is eager-to-please and ready to become your perfect pup! Rita already knows a handful of basic commands, including sit and shake. She’s still learning her leash manners, but she’s making great progress. With a little bit of polishing, Rita will be amazing on leash in no time.

She has amazing house manners already, calming down inside and melting into a big snuggle-bug. Rita was quick to do her “business” outside, and didn’t have any indoor accidents at the rescue.

Rita is currently living in a foster home with a loving foster mom. She’s showered in treats, love and affection and in turn, she is always on her best behavior. Rita’s foster mom says “she’s a perfect dog, a great girl.”

Rita’s perfect home has at least one human to call her own, and she’s not picky about anything else. Rita would love some doggy siblings of her own. Considering her temperament, we suspect she would do well with kids. She would appreciate walks and exercise to keep her healthy and happy, and plenty of treats! Rita would love a family that’s willing to teach her all sorts of commands, she loves learning. Here at the rescue, Rita met our house cat, Tom, who says that Rita was a bit rude to him, and probably shouldn’t have any kitty roommates!

Rita is such a sweet, loving good girl with so much love to give, such an eagerness to learn, and so much patience with other dogs. We LOVE Rita here at the rescue, and I’m confident that you will too! Meet Rita virtually via video call, or in person in Friendswood, Texas. Apply to adopt Rita today, she is ready to meet her forever family!

We are willing to test Rita with anything you need us to in order to ensure she’s the perfect match for you! We can make anything happen! Just let us know.

https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success.
Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!
Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond.
Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.
The rescue’s hard costs alone for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,120. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that Three Little Pitties Rescue is not government funded.
It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS:
● Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family
● Discounts on Embark DNA test kit- $30 off of Breed ID test & $50 off of Breed ID plus Health test

Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission!
Follow our rescue journey and connect with us on our website and social media platforms. Together, we can make a difference, one adoption at a time.
