Introducing Ruby!
A little gem with a sweet heart worth the excavation!
Ruby came to TCR from another rescuer in dire need of placement for her and her 6 “siblings” who were living outside. At the time, the weather was about to get colder and some of the kittens in the group were showing signs of a nasty upper respiratory infection. Most of the kittens were underweight and we feared they wouldn’t make it outside much longer.
Ruby was one of the more shy kittens within the group when she first came in. She had ear mites and an ear infection and needed daily treatment for her ears, making her even more shy for a bit since any kinds of medication isn’t fun! With time, Ruby has slowly came out of her shell. She is still very shy, but once she relaxes around someone, she will come straight out for pets and lovins! Ruby has a soft and silky black coat with a few sparse white hairs on her chest and has a very good RBF that she’s worked hard to perfect. She has a loud and sweet purr once she gets going and will circle around you for more pets! Shes still a little weary of being picked up, but it’s something an adopter can be willing to work with her on. Ruby gets along with all of her foster siblings and enjoys playing with anything that can used as a toy. She greatly appreciates a good spot for a cat cuddle puddle. Ruby is definitely a shy girl who will need a patient adopter who is willing to work with her in a smaller space at first so that she can acclimate to a new home. She is very sweet and loving, but rarely will do a gentle love bite if she’s feeling a little too overstimulated. We think that Ruby would do best in a home with no children or older children who can understand her initial shyness and respect her boundaries. We do believe that maybe in a year or so she could live with children and probably even dogs, but we would prefer a home right now that can focus on bonding with her. Ruby needs to go to a home with another cat, as Ruby has always spent her young life with at least one buddy. Ruby does well with any other cat and can rely on them for emotional support to help her break out of her shell! (Perhaps one of her many foster siblings!)
Ruby is approximately 8 months old, spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, FIV/FELV tested negative, dewormed, flea treated, and treated for possible ear mites and an ear infection. If this sweet little gem sounds like the girl for you, apply today!

Typically we talk a little with potential adopters to find a cat who is a good fit before sharing the application.

We check over the application including checking vet references and doing landlord checks.
3.
Interview

Additional adoption info
We try to do our best to make sure we find good fitting, responsible homes, without wasting a lot of our time. Our app has a lot of screening questions which help eliminate potential adopters who might not be serious (they usually just don't return the app), or not a good fit, which is why the in depth interview happens once the app is returned.

We are a small but dedicated 501c3 nonprofit cat rescue specializing in making one person's garbage kitten another person's forever cat.
Our mission is to reduce feline suffering and overpopulation using a combination of TNR and adoptions. We foster and socialize whenever we have the resources to do so, including behavioral cats and kittens who might otherwise just be candidates for TNR.
