My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello I'm Wyatt. I have been nothing but a love bug from the moment I stepped into the house. I LOVE PEOPLE! I am about a 2 year old male lab mix. Ive got a sweet and SMART lab personality all packed into a tiny frame. I am neutered and housetrained. I am crate trained but the crate isn’t my favorite thing and I will whine and bark a bit before settling down. I get along with all the dogs. I love to goof around with them and play what the humans call “Wrestlemania” and even though I am in the middleweight division I can still tumble with the heavyweights!
I am ok on leash. I have pretty good house etiquette too! I don’t counter surf or steal shoes and with enough bones around the house I am happy as a clam being redirected to those in case a pillow looks intriguing. I LOOOOOOOOOVE Bones!
I am a very smart boy and very food motivated. I learned “sit” in like 2 minutes. I also am very eager to please my humans so doing an obedience class with you would be ahhhhmaaaaaziiiinnnnggggg!
Did I mention that I love people? I love cuddling. And they say I am the PERFECT size because I can crawl up in your lap and it’s more of a nice weighted blanket instead of a piece of lead that my bigger lab friends are! I love giving kisses. I love everyone but I am a TOTAL ladies man so ladies, hit me up with an app

Additional adoption info

OUR SPAY AND NEUTER POLICY
The Hero Rescue charges a $100.00 spay/neuter deposit with every unaltered puppy that is adopted. The purpose of the deposit is to ensure the puppy will be altered before she/he reaches 6 months of age. This $100 deposit is refundable if adopter provides proof of sterilization within 14 days of the procedure. After the adoption is completed, all vetting (spay/neuter, boosters, heart worm and flea prevention) are the responsibility of the adopter. This deposit will not be returned if the animal is not spayed/ neutered within the established timeline.

OUR ADOPTION FEES
Puppies up to Six Months Old- $400 plus a refundable $100 Spay/Neuter Deposit ($500 total due at adoption)
Dogs Six Months and Up - $300

ADOPTION PROCESS
1. Review our adoption contract and application.

2. Call your vet and references to inform them that a rescue representative will be calling.

3. Complete adoption application and submit at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HRMD/Dog

4. You will be notified of outcome of your application within 3-5 days.

5. If approved, you will be introduced to the foster to schedule a meeting within 5 days. Guidelines for the meeting are:

- Bring a leash and collar and be prepared to take the animal home directly from the meeting.

- Meeting should be no longer than 1 hour. Our fosters are volunteers and we value and respect their time and personal commitments.

- All members of the household (including other dogs) must be present.

- Please be prepared to submit adoption fee via PayPal at the meeting – We do not accept payments prior to the meeting.

- If all goes well, the dog will go home with you directly after the meeting. If you are not ready to adopt at the conclusion of the meeting, please understand that we may process other applications for the dog. Because we have a limited amount of foster homes, we cannot hold dogs past adoption.

6. Please review these resources prior to the meeting to be prepared with what to expect when bringing a new dog home:

More about this rescue

Our History
The Hero Rescue launched in 2019 with a group of experienced and dedicated fosters. We combined all of our experiences to visualize the mission and operation of The Hero Rescue. We are dedicated to the animals we serve, to the families we impact, and to respect for each other. We are a 501c3 tax exempt non-profit organization.

Our Mission
The Hero Rescue is formed by a network of volunteers and fosters committed to saving lives of animals at risk of euthanasia, abuse, and neglect. By relocating animals from over crowded shelters to Maryland for adequate veterinary care, castration, emotional rehabilitation and eventually adoption, we will make a difference in the lives of animals as well as in the local communities we serve .
