Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Mister Critter here surely caught your eye with his big brown eyes, without a doubt! He's absolutely adorable, and with a personality to match, he will make someone a great boy! At about 7 months old, Critter weighs in at approximately 30 pounds, so you can bet he will be a nice sized boy once he's full-grown! Critter knows everything, from basic obedience, to crate-training, and house-breaking; his family really loved him after all; and they did a wonderful job at creating such a remarkable boy! But Critter is in need of someone that can be just a bit more authoritative in order to work through his complex tendencies. BUT what we've also noticed, is that having another dog around, also helps so much, along with getting him neutered, as we already did!
Critter is playful, snuggly, sweet, and beyond affectionate; he LOVES giving kisses, and receiving them in return, as well as playing fetch, tug, you name it! He's your typical lovable pup, that's one thing for certain!
What we've noticed is that when Critter is done tolerating something, he's done with it, and will let you know. & we have been working him hard breaking this habit, with assertiveness and lots of mutual respect. He's been working through these things with us, and has been doing splendidly thus far; We reckon he was handled in ways he wasn't the biggest fan of as a young pup, and simply has learned it to keep himself feeling secure. So far, we've successfully gotten him through nearly everything at-home life consists of, and teaching him the proper ways to communicate when he's had enough of something, however, in order to keep his behavior on the right path, he's looking for someone willing to learn, and work with him to keep building his tolerance along with alllll the positive associations he needs! He does wonderful with other dogs, cats, & he lived in a home with kids up until now, and we think he'd be best with older kids, or those that understand dog communication signals.

More about this shelter
We are a non-profit organization out of Monticello, IA specializing in the care for dogs and cats that need us. Our care does not stay local, as we take transports from all over the United States, and adopt all over as well!
Our mission's primary focus is to help reduce the homeless pet population by finding homes for spayed/neutered pets, and helping educate WHY this process is so important, and the proper way to care for pets!
