Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home. Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion.
A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known.
Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.
Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list.
thanks

Date into Rescue:11/17/2024
Reason for being in rescue: Toby's owner became very ill and she had to be relocated to be closer to family who could care for her. She could not take her beloved pets with her.
Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC
Special Needs? Toby is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative. On 12/11/24 Toby had a dental with extractions. Toby does have difficulty processing food (hey - some of us humans do to!). He takes 2 pills (5mg Metoclopramide and 500 mg Sucralfate) 30 minutes prior to eating each meal. As long as he gets this, there is no problem. If he doesn't get his meds, he is going to vomit after eating. We think this is either an allergy issue or from a few weeks when his mom was sick and things did not go well for Toby - and it is starting to resolve. We are trying to wean him off this now.
Weight: 20 lbs
Height: 14 in
Spayed/Neutered: Yes
Adoption Fee: $299
Fence needed? No but a fence is a great safety feature for any dog
What kind of home would be best for me? Toby would thrive most in a home that is affectionate, calm and interactive. Toby is a companion dog. He needs a family or couple who plans to give him plenty of attention, playtime and allow him to interact and become a member of the family. Toby would also love a home with children who are considerate and gentle! He gets along phenomenally with other dogs, large and small, as long as they are not "in his business." He is a live and let live kind of guy. He would be just fine with a calm, settled and mature dog. He does not play. He is a co-existing dog. He would prefer to have a human to love on.
What is my personality like? Are you looking to add a fluffy adventure to your family - Look no further! Meet Toby, the American Eskimo Dog in search of his furever. home! With his soft, cloud-like coat and charming demeanor, he's the definition of a cuddle companion. He's a kind-hearted soul who meets no strangers. He is very eager to please humans and is a very social, trainable dog. The most important thing is that Toby simply needs a loving, attentive family who understands his breed and supports his needs.
Toby loves things like snuggles and sunny naps. He is happy to hang outdoors with other dogs, but would rather be cuddling up to you after a busy day. Toby is a physically affectionate dog and expects everyone to love on him and show him some attention! He is a very easy going, intelligent dog as well and does great with things like potty training and walking on a leash.
Toby is a great dog, and we know he will make an even better companion. He is gentle, friendly, intelligent and a truly stunning dog. That is hard to come by. We have no doubt that this sweet, fluffy boy will steal your entire family's heart!
How do I act when I first meet new people? Toby is great with all types of people, and he warms up to humans very quickly.
Other tips and tidbits: Toby was born 11/17/2017. He has not yet been tested with cats but we think he will be fine as long as the cat is also happy to just hang out.
House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.
To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application.
Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you.
Thank you for considering CPR.
