My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.

12/18/24 Polar is an adorable little poodle mix who was found running the streets along with his friend, Scotch. Polar's coat was so matted, we couldn't even find his skin to vaccinate him. We had him groomed and we were pleasantly surprised to see how cute he is! Polar is a small guy, about 18 lbs. We are unsure of his exact breed but feel pretty sure he is some sort of 'doodle.' He is a young guy, maybe a year old. He is great with everyone- adults, kids, cats, and dogs. He's a friendly, outgoing guy who just needs a home of his own. Polar is not house trained. He has a habit of marking in the house. We feel like this will be easier to correct when he is in a home of his own, where he can get more one on one training and direction. He is currently in a foster home with a lot of other dogs, so some of the marking is probably due to competing with the other dogs. He is young and was just neutered this week, so we are confident he will learn. Other than his marking behavior, he's an excellent little boy who just needs a good home! He is fully vetted and heartworm negative!
Located in Arkansas, but transport is available. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them at one of the following times/locations.
Harrisburg, PA 2am Fridays
Port Jervis, NJ 5am Fridays
Southington, CT 8am Fridays

This includes microchip, spay/neuter,  up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive. There is a transport fee of $150 per dog, depending on the transporter. We use Pack Leaders Rescue Dog Transport most often, but also use Hearts Transport as well on occasion.

More about this rescue

Adopt-A-Stray was founded in Jan. 2010, by Kelley Prichard. Since then, it has grown to include a few wonderful volunteers who work very hard to help ensure that our pets are place in loving, forever homes. We are based in Alexander, AR, but we list all of our available pets in the northeast. We work with several different transporters to get our babies to their new homes in the northeast once they are adopted. The transporter we use most often Pack Leaders (www.plrdogtransport.com). All pets are given age appropriate vaccinations before they leave. Every pet is seen by our vet prior to transport. If you see a pet listed that interests you, please be sure to read the description thoroughly and inquire to the email address listed. Thank you for considering a rescue dog!
