Sammie is a handsome orange tabby and white cat looking for a patient and loving family to call his own. He can be a little shy at first, but once he warms up to you, he's a total love bug! Sammie enjoys gentle petting, having his chin scratched, and will happily curl up on your lap once he feels comfortable. This sweet boy dreams of a cozy bed to snuggle up in, some fun toys to bat around, and a sunny spot for the summertime where he can perch and watch the world go by. Sammie's ideal home would be a quiet one with adults or older children who will give him the time and space he needs to settle in. For In-Person Adoptions at the Shelter, visit during open hours. For pets in foster care, apply on that pet at www.multcopets.org

Meet the Pet

At the shelter, adopters will be able to meet a maximum of three (3) pets per visit, with ten (10) minutes per pet.

3.
Take the Pet Home

Adoptions are conducted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Adoptions will be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Adopters will not be able to submit applications to adopt animals in advance, or place adoption holds on animals.
For In-Person Adoptions at the Shelter, visit during open hours.
For pets in foster care, apply on that pet at www.multcopets.org

Adopters will be able to meet a maximum of three (3) pets per visit, with ten (10) minutes per pet.
We will be unable to assist with pet-to-pet meets. Please keep your furry friends at home, adoptable pets will not be able to meet resident pets at the shelter.
Prepare enough time for your visit. Adopters should expect that it may be up to two (2) hours at the shelter to process an adoption, including meeting pets, an adoption consultation, and waiting periods. Wait times may be significantly longer on weekends.

Multnomah County Animal Services (MCAS) is the only open door shelter in Portland. We are the primary agency responsible for lost pet care, animal abuse investigations and animal rescue in Multnomah County. We also offer dog and cat licensing, lost and found pet services, and animal adoptions through our shelter in Troutdale. MCAS is a division of the Multnomah County Department of Community Services (DCS).
