Here's what the humans have to say about me:
If you put happy, silly, and loving into a fun size package- you get Darling. This girl lives up to her name in every sense. She is just Darling! A friend to all, and strangers are only that until she meets them then they are on the fast-track to bestie territory. She is a bundle of joyful energy and her approach to life basically scares away any trace of a bad day you could ever have. Her love of connection and cuddles paired with that fun-loving nature is going to make her such a fantastic companion!
Darling is estimated to be 5 months old (Dec. 2024) and weighs 25 lbs. She is not done growing but we do not anticipate her growing much bigger than a mid-size dog, possibly in the 35 lb range. Of course, we cant be positive of her breed which would play into her full-grown size. Going off her features and personality we suspect she is a lab/black mouth cur mix, but truthfully she is a Texas special- the best kind.
Darling has so many wonderful qualities, you can see her in action here, but come back to read more about her. https://youtu.be/HLQTX4iDd60
If you enjoy walks and are looking for a walking buddy, Darling will be happy to join! She has | basic leash skills with her only “flaw” being her friendly nature. She is still on the puppy spectrum so training and consistency will help her know when to focus on the walk and when to greet the world freely. It is important to understand, she is the friendly-type, if you head out of the house together leave a few extra minutes for the greetings and comments about your super cute dog.
Darling is waiting for her adoption day in a loving foster home and her foster has shared so many positives about her. First, and a major bonus at this age- she is both house and crate trained! No accidents and quiet in her crate. Her foster has shared she really enjoys her crate and will happily nap in there and goes in easily when asked. She also lives with two other dogs, one similar size to her and one that is much bigger. She gets along great with both and loves playtime, shares dog beds and toys easily.
When introduced to new dogs she showed the same open playfulness we had heard about. She would love a home with a playmate that has a similar zest for bouncy play, size is not a factor, Darling must understand that the bigger the dog the bigger the fun…? Is that even true? She looked like immediate besties with every dog she was introduced to from a same size guy to a big big girl. She is friendly, greeting new dogs well on and off leash, and when she isn’t running and playing she is happy to just hang out and check in with people for a little love and maybe a treat.
Darling’s ideal home is flexible, she could be an apartment girl thanks to her friendliness, size, and overall quiet nature but a yard would be perfect for mastering fetch and zoomies with a friend. As far as cats go, Darling could have a feline-friend with just basic guidance. She is not shy when meeting a cat and her invitation to play is the only thing she will need guidance on. Learning that cats do not want to “play” the same way she does will take a little time but she learns quickly and is good natured about the boundary swats. A home with a dog-savvy cat that can handle her curiosity would be best.
Darling has so much love to give, and she is sure to shine as a loyal, fun-loving family member. If you think Darling is the girl for you, don’t hesitate to reach out with questions or to simply express your interest. These small package-big fun dogs go quickly and we know Darling will be no exception.

https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success.
Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!
Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond.
Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.
The rescue’s hard costs alone for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,120. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that Three Little Pitties Rescue is not government funded.
It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS:
Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family
Discounts on Embark DNA test kit- $30 off of Breed ID test & $50 off of Breed ID plus Health test

Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission!
Follow our rescue journey and connect with us on our website and social media platforms. Together, we can make a difference, one adoption at a time.
