My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Blitzen is an adorable fellow! He appreciates opportunities for play and exercise to tucker him out. Walks, hikes, and play time are the name of Blitzen's game! Our volunteers have shared with us that Blitzen gets excited when they initially leash him up for walks but once that initial excitement dissipates, he calms down and shows them his affectionate side by cuddling with them. Blitzen also enjoys quality time playing with toys in the play yards. He knows sit and down and apparently is quite the dog treat connoisseur - savoring hot dogs, cheese, and bacon.

While he's recommended for a home without children due to his exuberant personality, Blitzen may enjoy and benefit from recreation with other dogs.
So if Blitzen the reindeer may be a bit too big for your home, perhaps this sweet Blitzen may be that walking/hiking/jogging companion you've been looking for.

How to Adopt from Foothills Animal Shelter:
Visit the Shelter or one of our offsite adoption partner locations to find a pet. Once you’ve decided on an animal, you should check with staff to see the status and history of the animal. At this time, you can fill out an adoption application and visit with the animal.

We recommend you bring all family members to the Shelter to meet with the animal before you consider adopting. If you are interested in adopting a dog, bring any household dogs to the Shelter to determine if it is a good match. Also, if you rent your home, please bring the pet policy in your lease or rental agreement and contact information for your landlord.

Once your application is reviewed, you can pay the adoption fees and take your new pet home. It may take some time for your new pet to adjust to its new environment. If you have questions or concerns after adopting, please contact us at 303-278-7575.

More about this shelter

Foothills Animal Shelter, formerly known as Table Mountain Animal Center, is an open-admissions facility (never turning away an animal) and one of the largest animal shelters in the metro Denver area – taking in 9,000 animals each year. We are a true community resource that offers a broad variety of animal welfare programs and services. Low-cost spaying/neutering, vaccinations, microchipping and dog licensing are some of the services offered to the public.

The organization’s important mission: to provide the best care possible for every animal that enters our doors.

Community, Adopt, Reunite and Educate (C.A.R.E.) are the four key principles of Foothills Animal Shelter.
