Sage is a serene and affectionate senior girl in search of her forever home. Discovered outside a local business in Troy in November 2023, she was in poor physical condition. Thanks to her dedicated rescuers, she has made a remarkable recovery and is now ready to find her loving family!
This sweet senior is approximately 10 or 11 years old and, like many elder cats, she enjoys a tranquil and laid-back lifestyle, often taking cozy naps on soft surfaces. When she's awake, she delights in receiving gentle pets from humans while purring contentedly. Sage is an expert biscuit maker and will even roll over for some belly rubs. Additionally, she adores being brushed and comes alive during grooming sessions. Her unique raspy meow adds charm to her personality.
Although she suffers from dermatitis, which causes her skin to flake, this condition is simple to manage. Her new owner will just need to administer steroid shots and occasional soothing baths, which Sage handles with ease. She even wears adorable sweaters at times to keep her comfy.
She is FIV+, but this does not shorten her lifespan; she anticipates many happy years ahead. Sage underwent a complete tooth extraction and will remain on a wet food diet for the rest of her life.
In April, she also had her left eye removed after it unexpectedly ruptured, but now she proudly carries herself as a charming little pirate kitty who remains blissfully unaware of any differences.
Sage is sociable with other cats and would thrive in a peaceful home alongside calmer feline companions.
Sage is currently in a foster home. If you are interested in meeting her, please send a message here, or email adopt@ahsem.org.
Adoption fees are as follows: $155 for a single cat or kitten, $195 for a pair of cats or kittens. When adopting a cat from AHSEM the adoption includes spay or neuter surgery, age appropriate core vaccines, microchipping, combo tested (for FIV/FeLV), and basic wellness care including deworming and flea treatment.

AHSEM treats every adoption as "foster to adopt" This means that the first two weeks in which you have the cat is the "foster period." We do our best to ensure the right match for all involved and want to give the cat(s) time to decompress and adapt to their new environment. However, we realize sometimes things don't work out as expected. Therefore, during that two-week period, if something doesn’t work out you can bring the cat back. We will always take our cats back even after the "foster to adopt" period. We would hate to see them end up at a kill shelter, abandoned, or any other unsafe situation.
