Dakota is a very affectionate, gentle, 97 pound, 7-8 year old female Black/tan Doberman with a calm and friendly personality. She is a bit overweight and on a journey to a healthier leaner body. Dakota is a special needs dogs; she had a cancerous mass which was removed. There are currently no signs of cancer but she should be monitored to see if it returns.
Dakota greets everyone she meets with a wagging tail and gentle kisses. Dakota is calm and well-mannered. She is content to take naps and relax. If she is left alone she does will whine and pace. She is not destructive but will chew a blanket. Her first day of unrestricted activity was December 9th (post-surgery) so she is just now beginning to take longer walks in the backyard and play with some of her outside toys. She sleeps through the night on her dog bed.
Dakota will do best in a new home where someone is home with her. She does well when riding in car. Dakota did spend the Thanksgiving Holiday with another Doberman, Dolly, a 2 year old female. While Dakota’s activity was still restricted at the time she got along well with Dolly. She would be a good companion for an older or more relaxed playmate rather than rough-housing with a young puppy.
Dakota is fostered in MD. If you are interested in meeting Dakota, please contact her foster parent.
DAR&E adopts to MD, VA, DC, DE, eastern parts of WV and southern parts of PA. Please check with other Doberman rescues in areas not listed.
