Hi there! My name is Gizmo, and I'm an 11-month-old bundle of love with a heart as big as my purrs. I may be young, but I’ve already been on quite the journey
I won’t lie; I’ve had a few health hiccups along the way. I was born with some special medical needs, but that doesn’t stop me from living life to the fullest! I have something called chronic kidney disease (CKD), which means my kidneys need a little extra TLC. With a kidney-friendly diet and regular check-ups, I can keep feeling my best for as long as possible.
Before I came to the shelter, I had a surgery called a subtotal colectomy because of something called congenital megacolon. Big words, I know! Basically, my colon was too big and caused tummy troubles, but the surgery helped a lot. I also had a bit of trouble with a narrow spot in my rectum, which made going to the bathroom a bit tricky. I had a procedure to help widen it, and while it’s better now, I still need a little extra patience and love when it comes to potty time. I’m on some medication to keep me comfy, and I’m doing well!
Despite all my medical adventures, I have a heart full of love and a playful spirit that will brighten your days. I am ready to thrive with a family who loves me just the way I am.

More about this shelter
Cat Care Society is a private, non-profit cat shelter founded in 1981 that was established in order to improve the quality of life for cats in need in the Denver metro area. Our unique and free-roaming approach views all cats as worthy, regardless of their age or abilities.
We are non-discriminatory in our love for cats and take in cats that may not have a chance anywhere else. This includes cats that have tested positive for FIV or FeLV, or have been diagnosed with chronic health conditions such as diabetes or kidney disease. We also pride ourselves in finding these cats loving homes and educating cat owners on the care requirements for cats with special needs.
Our mission is to be a safe and enriching place for all cats on their journey to a loving home. We do this by providing compassionate care, shelter, adoption services and community engagement.
