My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Want a Lab packed into a 11 lb. body? Well, Donnie is the dog for you! He fetches like crazy and even places the ball in your hand when he brings it back! Donnie appears to be about 1 year old and a Maltese/Shih-tzu mix. He was rescued from a shelter after being picked up as a stray. He loves his daily walks and walks nicely on leash. He has never met a stranger and is sweet and submissive to all dogs. He is great with cats (likes to use them as a pillow) and loves kids too.

Donnie relaxes every muscle in his body when picked up and when he rests his head on your chest he gazes up into your eyes. He has beautiful golden eyes and the longest eye lashes I have ever seen, they are at least an inch long. I've only heard him bark a few times, this little guy is a treasure. Where ever we go people stop me and ask what breed he is, he is that unusual looking. The picture doesn't pick up the gorgeous blond streaks in his taupe-colored coat- they actually look like they were professionally done!!!

VERY IMPORTANT: Donnie has a medical condition similar to acid-reflux disease in humans and needs two inexpensive medications twice a day- maybe for the rest of his life. His adopter will need to be highly committed to Donnie's medical care. Donnie is a precious and sweet dog, he deserves a forever home that will provide nothing but the best care for him and not skip a dose of his medications. Donnie is not completely house trained and is learning not to mark his "territory", his adopter will need to continue house training Donnie.

IF INTERESTED: Donnie is with Bay Area Poodle Rescue, but he's being fostered in Long Beach. If interested, please submit an online application with Bay Area Poodle Rescue: http://www.bayareapoodlerescue.org/OnlineApplication.html. BAPR will contact you to answer your questions once the application is received. Do not complete the Poodles and Pals application.
