My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

World class Snuggler!

Meet Cassian! Cassian is in a foster home in Spokane, WA and can be transported to your area (see information below in the “Adopting from Path of Hope Rescue” section).

Cassian is a mixed breed puppy with soft, fawn colored fur and a darker muzzle who we estimate will be in the 40-60 lb. range when grown. Part of our Court of Dreams litter, Cassian and his eight siblings were found abandoned in a cardboard box, turned into a local shelter, and slated for euthanasia. We were able to rescue the whole litter (thank you, fosters!) and bring them here to find homes in the PNW. DNA test results on his sibling indicate he is American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, and a blend of other breeds including German Shepherd, Chow Chow, and Weimaraner. Cassian just might be a little of everything!

Friendly and affectionate, Cassian loves to be with his people and is always eager to give kisses. The quintessential lap dog, he is a world class snuggler and canine warming blanket. This pup will be the perfect companion on cold winter nights; who needs a fireplace when Cassian cuddles up with you on the couch for some relaxing binge watching? But Cassian isn’t only about providing you with quality companionship and body heat; he enjoys romping and running, especially when he has company. Zoomies in the backyard are a favorite pastime, and the more dogs to join him, the merrier the play.  This exuberant puppy delights in playing with chew toys, makes friends quickly with other dogs, and has done well with kids and cats. He is quite fond of his toys, and Cassian enjoys transporting them all to his crate where he arranges them in order of most to least engaging.  Food and treats are very high on his list of favorite things; Cassian really knows how to work his puppy eyes to his advantage!

Born in mid-July, Cassian is working hard on his skills. Cassian is progressing through potty training and alerts when he needs to go outside. Smart and eager to please, he is quickly learning his basic obedience. Cassian is also crate trained. A curious puppy, he enjoys walks on his leash (snow has been a new experience for him!).

Cassian’s ideal home? This affectionate boy seeks a loving home with someone to be his companion for walks, adventures, and snuggles who will ensure he learns the skills that will make him a happy and well-rounded dog. Someone to cuddle with is top of his list. Lots of toys and treats would make him the happiest pup in the world, and Cassian would do well in a home with kids, cats or dogs. If you are looking for a loyal and loving pup, then Cassian might be the one for you!

What is Path of Hope Rescue’s Adoption Process?

Our adoption process takes on average 7-10 days.

  1. Begin by completing the online application. EVERY application receives an email response from us (check your spam folder!).

  2. Your personal Matchmaker will contact you, help you find your perfect pup match, and guide you through the process.

  3. Meet your potential pup at the home of the foster family (the process may differ slightly for long distance adopters).

Adopting from Path of Hope Rescue

  • Our adoption process sets us apart. We specialize in learning about you and your family to find just the right fit for you. Our Matchmakers are not only good at what they do; they will also guide you through the entire process.

  • Our Minimum Adoption Donation is $550 for puppies under a year and $450 for dogs a year and older. We are a WA state registered non-profit and rely heavily on adoption donations to cover the expenses associated with saving lives. Our dogs are spayed/neutered prior to adoption; microchipped with free lifetime registration; and up to date on DAPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccinations (when age appropriate) and deworming and heartworm treatment/prevention. Adopters can also earn a $100 training refund if they attend (6) hours of any in person training course.

  • Long Distance adopters (one hour or more from Spokane) may choose to travel to Spokane to pick up their dog or use our monthly transport option, Puppy Delivery Express, for an additional delivery donation of $250. Puppy Delivery Express currently delivers dogs throughout Washington and to parts of Montana, Idaho, and Oregon.

About Path of Hope Rescue

  • At Path of Hope Rescue, our goal is to make EVERY DOG. WANTED. Our two employees and army of volunteers focus on transporting pregnant dogs and puppies from Texas, the number one kill state in America. The dogs we rescue are in poor living conditions and on euthanasia lists in shelters that are inundated with unwanted animals. We want to give these dogs a chance and bring them to the Pacific Northwest to find adoptive, loving homes.

  • We are 100% foster based; our dogs are fostered in loving homes where they are house and crate trained and learn basic obedience and leash skills. Dogs experience socialization opportunities with people, places, and other animals, and they receive the attention required to become well-rounded, healthy, and affectionate dogs that they would not otherwise receive in a shelter environment.

  • Our commitment does not end when the dog is adopted. Path of Hope offers post adoption owner support including information on making the dog’s transition to your home a smooth one; recommendations for Preferred Trainers; advice on pet behavior and wellness topics; Facebook litter groups to keep in touch with fellow adopters; and invitations to local rescue hosted events.

  • Please visit https://www.pathofhoperescue.com/ for more information about our organization and the adoption process.
