My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED:
Meet Mowgli! He is a 1-year-old, 11 lb, active and playful mix of Chihuahua, Pug, and Blue Heeler. He came to us as his owner could no longer care for him. Here is what his previous owner has to say about him…

Mowgli is a playful boy and has a lot of energy. He will need an active family who enjoys taking him on walks and playing with him. He is very smart and curious and has been easy to train with treats or toys. He is nervous around new people so it can take him some time to be friendly with people he does not know. He tends to prefer women over men, so a single female owner who is home much of the time would be ideal for him. He loves to be near his person and sleep at the foot of your bed or under the covers with you but sleeps just fine in a crate too.

He is housebroken and crate trained. He knows basic commands such as “Come, Sit, Lay down, Kennel (for go in your crate), Paw (for shake), and Spin Around”. We tell him “On your spot” to go lie down and wait before feeding. He does need some work on recall as he sometimes gets distracted, especially by squirrels. He walks well on a leash and enjoys long walks. He can pull on the leash if he sees a squirrel or another dog. He loves to run and is very fast so a home with a big yard or access to a dog park would be perfect for him. He would be great at flyball or agility. He enjoys other dogs and has lived with them before and would love a playful companion in the home.

He is not destructive of furniture or things around the house but does tend to pick up any little objects on the floor and try to eat them. He does not enjoy having his nails trimmed but tolerates baths just fine. He loves stretching out to sleep in front of the fireplace or heater. He is not a noisy dog and only barks when there is someone at the door.

His favorite toys are tugs and balls, and his absolute favorite is his Kong with some peanut butter in it. He also likes smaller stuffies and enjoys stealing socks. His favorite snacks are peanut butter, banana, carrots, and yogurt treats.

Mowgli is up to date on all his vaccinations, microchipped and will be neutered prior to adoption. His adoption fee is $500.

More about this rescue

Forever Home Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We receive dogs from owner surrenders and overcrowded shelters. All of the dogs are housed in private, loving foster homes or a kennel in the greater Seattle area. We assess their behaviors and health and help them relax during their transition to a forever home. The dogs remain in foster care or in our kenneling facility until they are adopted. All of the dogs are/or will be spayed or neutered, microchipped and are current on routine vaccinations.

Forever home dog rescue is not a shelter and thus you cannot see the dogs without an appointment.

We need foster homes! Thinking about adopting a dog, but not sure yet about which breed or if you're ready for the long-term commitment? Consider becoming a foster parent. A foster dog placement can be anywhere from two weeks to several months. We provide any dog supplies you may need and cover all necessary medical costs for your foster dog. You provide the love and attention and bring the dogs to adoption events at least twice per month.

Interested? Send us an email at fhdrwa@gmail.com and we'll send you a foster application. It's lots of fun and you will meet lots of dogs and other people who love dogs.
