My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Sadie!

This wiggly girl is as cute as can be! She is a high energy bundle of love that will need an active adopter with no young kids. Sadie will need a patient family that can work on using positive reinforcement training techniques to help curb her excitability and jumping up. She becomes best friends with every person she meets and loves to give kisses! Sadie had many dog friends in her past home and plays well with others, as long as they are able to keep up with her since she is so fast!

Thank you for your interest in adopting! Do you think you could be Sadie's person? Fill out our pre-adoption questionnaire today!

Friendly tip: If you're looking for a surefire way to make your application to stand out, consider telling us a little bit more about yourself in the final section! What brought you to adopt? Have you had any previous pets? What makes you the perfect match for this animal? Write as little or as much as you'd like!

Visit the BC SPCA Victoria Center to potentially view this pet and apply to adopt in person; OR

Submit an online application and staff will contact the first suitable adopter to set-up a visit.

Due to the high number of submissions, we will only be contacting select applicants to further review their interest. If you have any questions about an animal, please send us an email in lieu of calling. Our phone lines are extremely busy and we are not always able to answer every inquiry.

PLEASE NOTE that some animals may not be available for public viewing due to limited shelter space, medical and behavioral reasons, or other contributing factors. Kittens are NOT available for viewing as they are often in foster homes for health & safety reasons. Interested parties are strongly encouraged to complete the pre-adoption survey above, as this is the first step to securing a meet and greet.

The Victoria Center is open for in-person adoption viewings Tuesday through Sunday, 12pm to 4pm, staff and animal well-being permitting!

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
