My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Otis was brought in by his previous owner.

Why Otis might be the one for you:
Isn't Otis one of the most perfectly marked tuxedo cats that you have seen? He is so handsome and that little white mark on his nose adds to his picture. But, he is a very shy guy and it is going to take time and patience for Otis to settle into his new home. We don't know how long but tuxedo cats are known for being smart and accepting so we don't think it will take long. Give him the time and space he needs and he will let you know when he wants to walk out with confidence and say "I'm here and ready to join my family". We have resources and tips for how to work with shy cats like Otis. We can help you. If you take on Otis, you will feel so proud and pleased when you look down and hear him purring away in your lap as he looks up to you with contentment and gratitude. Are you ready to make a shy cat into a friendly cat? Do you have the interest, time and understanding? If so, you will be rewarded with a handsome tuxedo cat who is right at home in your home.

At SDHS:
Otis has been vaccinated, microchipped, spayed/neutered and is now ready for his new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
