My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Carlita, an adventurous and spirited 11-year-old medium-sized dog with a zest for life! Don’t let her age fool you—Carlita still loves exploring the world around her, and her curious nose is always on the hunt for new scents and stories. Whether it’s a leisurely stroll or a backyard sniffing expedition, Carlita’s sense of adventure is contagious.

When she’s not out exploring, Carlita is all about cozy comfort. She adores curling up in blankets and will happily cuddle up with you for a lazy afternoon of warmth and love. Her sweet, affectionate personality makes her the perfect companion for someone who enjoys the best of both worlds: gentle adventures and quiet cuddles.

If you’re looking for a loyal and loving dog who will fill your days with curiosity and comfort, Carlita is ready to join your family and steal your heart!

More about this shelter

The Humane Society of Greater Dayton is proud to be a no-kill animal welfare agency. We are committed to finding great homes for great pets! As a 501(c)(3) nonproft, we receive no government funding and rely solely on donations from individuals, companies and grants to fund our programs and services. We are not affiliated with any other animal agency on a local, state or national level. Since 1902, our organization has been devoted to being a voice for the voiceless. Although we proudly find more than 2,000 animals forever homes every year, we are far more than an adoption center. We currently have a wide array of programs to support animals in our community. Through our high-volume spay and neuter clinic, we are able to help pet owners as well as battle cat overpopulation through Trap-Neuter-Return. Our humane society agents also work tirelessly to protect pets from cruel and neglectful circumstances through our Cruelty & Neglect Investigations Department. Through our Veterinary Hospital, we can provide top-quality access to veterinary care at a low cost to pet owners. In addition to our many programs, our organization is unique because we are the only agency in the community able to handle all types of animals. This includes cats and dogs but also rabbits, birds, farm animals, pocket pets and exotics. Our organization is committed to providing our community, our state and our region with support and care.
