My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Puddles is calm, gentle and easy-going. He loves affection and he loves his brother Fawkes. They have been together since birth. They have been pinned up because they like to wander and their owner was never home, so he didn't want them to get lost. They will need a home with a fenced yard or lots of land where they are allowed to roam. They both came with very matted fur, which we are in the process of grooming. Puddles and Fawkes are house-trained and do well with other dogs. They are very friendly and don't bark much at all. They are such good dogs that will make great companions for any dog lover. Puddles currently has an injured foot and Fawkes is being treated for the tick disease, but other than that, they are healthy boys. We would like to keep this bonded pair together if we can, but if you only have room for one we may consider splitting them up.

More about this shelter

The Stone County Humane Society is a 501(C)(3) private organization, not a government entity that was formed in 1999. We rescue dogs and cats and are a no-kill shelter but we are not an open take in facility. We are currently operating from our new shelter building recently completed in August 2016 and a cat cottage. Our organization is managed by a volunteer board of 10 individuals and a full-time paid employee shelter manager that handles the day to day operations, and three part-time paid employees that feed and care for the animals and keep the facility clean. Most of our daily operations are funded by proceeds from a Second Chance Shop in town and donations from individuals. We also provide low cost spay/neuter clinics to the people of our county with help from a local vet.
