Meet Anastasia, a heart-stealing adult dog. She`s a shy, sweet soul with a gentle demeanor. Her mellow attitude makes her the perfect companion for a quiet household. Anastasia is great with children, showing them affection and patience. When it comes to other dogs, she`s submissive, preferring to keep the peace rather than stir up trouble. Anastasia is also uniquely affectionate. She loves to cuddle and will march right into your arms for a hug and some petting and she`ll want to be carried around as she gives you kisses. She only weighs 10 pounds. Her friendly nature is sure to win over anyone who meets her. She`s fully house trained and leash trained. While she can be a bit fearful, she`s quick to trust once she feels safe. Her neediness is a testament to her desire for a loving family. Pet Adoption Fees
CAP adoption fees include a variety of services - age-appropriate vaccinations, canine heartworm, and feline leukemia tests, spaying/neutering, deworming treatment, microchipping to name a few - the total value of which exceeds $450. These minimal adoption fees cover only part of each animal's stay at our shelter - please help us keep adoption fees low while maintaining the high quality of care for the animals in our charge by donating and/or volunteering.

A second dog or puppy, adopted within 30 days of the first adoption receives a $20 discount.

Any dog/puppy adopted at the same time as a cat/kitten will be adoptable at a $20 discount.

Citizens For Animal Protection, founded in 1972, is committed to sheltering, rescuing, and placing homeless animals in loving homes; advocating respect and compassion for all animal life; providing humane education to prevent animal cruelty; and raising awareness in the community of the needs of animals.

CAP is proud to announce that through life-saving adoption and transfer programs and a lot of hard work, we have maintained a placement rate of over 93% for all homeless pets surrendered to our shelter in 2021. In 2021, CAP provided care for 10,260 animals; this includes animals surrendered by the public and transferred in from animal control agencies and rescue groups, animals already in the shelter and foster care program, feral cats trapped/neutered/returned and animals receiving vaccinations and other treatments in our low-cost vaccination clinic, The Cornelius Clinic.
