Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
If you see pets listed by a private owner, it means that they’re adoptable through Adopt a Pet’s Rehome program – the safe and reliable way to find a loving new home for your pet.
Sara was adopted from the Shreveport Humane Society in Feb of 2020 when she was 9ish. She was surrendered by a hoarder who had 6 dogs, all heartworm-positive until SHS treated all of the pups. Sara has remained heartworm-negative since. She is a snuggle bug when she wants to be, but is firm with her boundaries. She will tell you if you can pick her up or not. Shes pretty indifferent to other animals, but will occasionally cuddle with them if they are low energy - again, shes older and isnt into roughhousing anymore. She prefers naps in the sun and snacks. She has lived with kids but again, prefers low energy. She loves a tiny tennis ball. Throw one and she will fetch and play for a bit. She handles toe trimmings and baths well. Due to her age, she is going blind and deaf. She howls and cries anytime I leave the house, which is why I have to surrender or rehome her. I have lost my housing because of this and cannot risk losing another living situation. I have to have her out by the 1st
