Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Backyard chickens can make fun pets, both on and off the farm! Chickens are entertaining pets that can thrive with a companion or two even in a small backyard. Chickens live in a flock and require at least one companion so they don`t get lonely. They need a predator proof coop to sleep in, and a secure area to roam during the day. Some areas have limits on the number of chickens you may keep in your back yard, and some areas do not allow male chickens (roosters) at all. Please check your local animal control laws/HOA regulations to ensure you are able to have this pet in your area.

More about this shelter
We are an open admissions shelter, meaning we take in homeless animals regardless of age, breed, health, temperament or lack of space. On average, we take in about 5,500 stray, surrendered and abandoned animals per year including dogs, cats, small mammals, birds and reptiles. We provide adoption services to find safe, happy homes for these pets; and also provide low-cost vaccination and microchip clinics to help safeguard them against illness or being lost forever.
