My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Doobie is our sweet old guy who found himself in need of a new home after the loss of two moms. He is a bit befuddled by the changes. He's a sweet boi that enjoys his outings after many months crated. Doobie has been to the beach and loved it. He has visited many dog parks and can wander about happily sniffing the pee-mail. Doobie isn't asking for long adventures. He'd be content with a nice stroll and napping in a sunspot.

Doobie is 9 years old and 13 lbs. He has a big scruffy neck that you just can't resist rubbing, and that is what he wants.

Doobie is good with other dogs and he visited a house with cats and showed minimal interest. He chose a fluffy bed inches from one of the cats.

Doobie barks when it is time to go potty. In a new home, he will need to learn your routines but the little bark reminder should help both of you.

Doobie can be a tiny bit anxious when you leave but if there is another pet in the home, it is a comfort to him.

Doobie is vaccinated, microchipped, neutered. Doobie had a dental 12/18/2024. He is looking for a loving home in N California.

Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. To recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for Doobie is $300.

The Grateful Dogs Rescue adoption procedure is designed to find a good match between the dog and adopter. Our goal is a happy foster to forever transition. The adoption procedure includes an application, interview, home check, and an adoption donation. The adoption donation helps to cover spay/neuter, shots and other medical care given before the dog is made available for adoption.

Grateful Dogs Rescue was founded in 1990; its mission is to rescue dogs not made available for adoption at San Francisco Animal Care and Control, and other local shelters, through no fault of their own. Rather than letting these dogs be euthanized, Grateful Dogs saves as many as possible by fostering these dogs in a loving home until a forever loving home is found.

Grateful Dogs Rescue is always in need of new foster homes! You can make a difference by fostering. The number of dogs we can save is dependent on having foster parents to care for them until they find their forever homes. All of our dogs are in foster care.
