My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Boots and her sister Socks come to us from a rural shelter where they were found as four-week-old puppies in need of a forever home! Their foster mom describes these two girls as "two of the cutest and best foster babies we've ever had", which is certainly saying something as they have fostered nearly 60 puppies. Boots is noted to be the more observational, introverted of the two sisters and is always down for snuggling on the couch and watching TV.

With their adorable shorter legs, their foster mom believes them to be some sort of Jack Russell terrier mix and with their coloring, we think perhaps they have some sort of Border Collie in their genetics as well. Their foster parents say they "definitely seem like the product of a big dog parent and a small dog parent". Boots and Socks are considered to be very aware of their surroundings and "polite eaters and poopers", meaning they don't try to eat from one another's bowls of food and don't stumble back through their poop outside after going, which is something most puppies take a long time to master. These little girls are so incredibly smart!

So far, Boots and Socks have proven their ability to sleep through the night when kept on a schedule and have only had minimal accidents in the house because their foster parents have them on a very strict potty-training schedule. They get along very well with their foster family's bigger dog as well. Boots and Socks are extreme cuddle bugs and do not try and squirm away when they are picked up.

Like most young puppies, Boots is extremely friendly, playful, and is basically a blank slate as far as potential and trainability go. Boots and Socks have been moved to a foster home together to work on starting potty training, learning manners, and learning to co-exist in different types of houses with different families. If a lifelong best friend is something you are currently searching for, then run to submit an adoption application for Boots or her sister Socks! They will be available to move into their new homes the week of December 29th, 2024, but you can go ahead and apply to be approved to adopt one of these cuties!

Upon adoption, Boots will have received age-appropriate shots, will be spayed at 6 months old, and will receive a microchip when big enough to safely do so,

Additional adoption info

A home check may be performed when taking the pet home. This is up to the discretion of the rescue founder and may be performed upon her decision. This step will ensure our animals are going into the best possible homes and will never be treated as less than a best friend and companion ever again. We are dedicated to the best possible fit for each animal that comes into our care.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

We are 100% foster and volunteer run. Therefore, the first step in meeting one of our adoptable pets will be to submit an adoption application by following the link posted above to either our website or directly to our adoption application. Once an adoption application has been approved, we can set up a meet and greet with the applicant and the animal the applicant is interested in. Please allow 24-72 business hours to receive an answer back about your application, as all of our volunteers and fosters have additional jobs outside of the rescue and use their spare time to provide care to these animals in our program.

Adoption events can also be found posted on our Facebook and Instagram pages located under the name "Happy Tails Canine Rescue". These events are open to the public and do not require an adoption application in advance to meet any of our pets that will be attending.
