Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Shade has likely seen a lot in his lifetime as a colony cat! Along with his siblings (Coco, Nelly, and George), Shade was lovingly cared for until their colony owner passed away. Left in a precarious position at the start of winter, with their only known means of sustenance and care gone, EHS stepped in. He’s now safe and warm and on a journey to a loving home.
ABOUT SHADE: -At shelter -Senior, domestic shorthair, male -Shade is a skittish cat who has had minimal experience with humans. -Shade may hiss at first, but he’s gentle. -He’s slowly coming around to receiving affection with a back-scratcher, and on occasion some chin scritches by hand. -Shade likes food, but will only eat it when he thinks no one else is watching—freezing in place to not be seen (old habits die hard). -He’s also very athletic and likes to jump! -Shade is currently enrolled in EHS’s socialization program, where dedicated volunteers are working to help him become more comfortable around people. -Shade is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, SNAP-tested for FIV/FeLV, and is up to date on core vaccinations.
SHADE’S IDEAL HOME: -Shade is looking for a home with another feline-friendly cat for companionship (maybe one of his siblings). -A skittish cat will benefit from a calm, quiet environment, preferably without small children. -Potential adopters should be prepared to commit the time, effort, and patience required to help Shade settle into his new environment. EHS will provide post-adoption support to assist Shade with a successful transition to his forever home.
