My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

For The Cats' Sake

LENA is a real beauty, but definitely different from her siblings DAHLIA and RILEY, who we recently posted adoptions for. It's funny how just like humans, each kitten in a litter has their own unique personality.LENA's personality is more wary and independent, although she's still goofy and silly, and likes to play. She's intelligent and loves to go outside in the catio area, so we think she really needs an inside/outsider home and would not be happy inside only. We are spending time with LENA to get her more used to cuddles and pets, and think she's just going to make us work for it! She is friendly for sure and okay with other cats. LENA needs an adopter, willing to be a little patient and win her over fully. Churus, wet food and treats will definitely help.

Please fill out our application: https://form.jotform.com/81848821130152   We do not have a fixed adoption fee at For The Cats' Sake, but instead ask for a tax-deductible donation to our group of at least $80. On average, we spend $200 to cover food, litter, spay/neuter, testing, vaccinations, flea treatment, deworming and any vet care or medicine needed. Adopters donate $80 or more, as they choose, to cover expenses, and help our rescue continue to treat and find homes for more cats. This flexible policy makes it possible for people to adopt more than one cat., and we are flexible with donations for multiples and barn cats. CAT EXPENSES: Spay/neuter $75 to $150 Rabies and FVRCP $50 Test for FiV and FeLV $35 Microchip $25 (adopter registers for life for $30) Wellness check at vet $50 Flea treatments and deworming $40 Any additional vet care or medications needed. Food and litter $40 upwards, depending on time of stay.

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process begins with an application which includes vet references and landlord permission for renters. Potential adopters are encouraged to visit the cats/kittens in their foster homes so they see them in a comfortable situation. In many instances a volunteer will deliver the cat/kitten to their new home to assist the family in preparing their home getting the adoption off to a good start. More about this rescue

For The Cats' Sake was founded in 2014 in response to a need for TNR in Rappahannock County, Virginia. Since that time, we have encountered many situations where there is no place for the cats to be returned. In other instances the cats are friendly or there are momma cats too pregnant to be spayed, or young kittens that are adoptable, but need socialization and foster care. Currently we have about 40 cats and kittens in foster care being prepared for adoption. All felines are Up to Date on vaccinations and tested for Feline Leukemia and FIV. Depending on age at time of adoption, they are also Spayed/Neutered.
