My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Snickerdoodle!

This handsome dog came down from the north with his friend, Gingerbread. He is an excitable, young dog who is ready to get out there and learn all about the world. Snickers hasn't had a stable home environment throughout his life, so he is really looking forward to having someone who will protect him and make sure he is always safe and warm.

Snickerdoodle already has a head start on his training and knows some basic commands like sit and stay. The ideal adopter would be someone who has the time and experience to continue working with him on his training and leash manners. He would be best suited in an adult only home, in a more rural area outside of the city. He is a strong and confident dog who is looking for a big home with a yard where he can roam. Snickers is a BIG boy, who will need a strong guardian that is able to handle him while he still learns the ways of the world. He can be reactive to other dogs and will need someone who is comfortable with handling and getting him socialized properly with other furry friends. He is a strong, tough boy and shows a high prey drive, so definitely shouldn't go to a home with any cats or other small animals.

Are you looking for a big buddy, who will cuddle in bed with you like a bear and have the stamina for a mountaintop adventure the next day? Come by the West Van BCSPCA to meet Snickerdoodle Tues-Sun from 12pm-3pm or fill out an application online right away!

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
