Say hi to this long leggy supermodel, Rosie! She came bounding into our home last Friday and has quickly settled in and is becoming part of the pack. She initially would vigorously protest being in the crate, but has quickly learned it is not such a bad place to chill out. She is learning leash manners and basic obedience commands, she is eager to learn and please her fosters.. Rosie has a keen interest in our cats and not in a friendly manner, so NO to cats right now although we are working with her on this. She attended her first Petsmart event the day after she came in and handled it well. Being a young pup, she has an abundance of energy and loves to run and play, short leash walks would only be the start of her daily exercise requirements. She would be an ideal running/hiking companion.

Additional adoption info

An applicant first submits an application form with a non-refundable $10.00 (cash or check only) processing fee. VGSR reviews the application, then schedules an interview and home visit during which a number of questions are asked and the home is reviewed to be sure there is a contained/safe yard, and to meet the family involved. Once the application is approved, the applicant is asked to submit a $250.00 (cash or check ONLY) minimum adoption donation to VGSR to help defray the costs of getting the dog fully vetted and ready to be adopted, and the adoption is completed.

More about this rescue

We provide a valuable service by finding good homes for the German Shepherd Dogs in our care. In the seven plus years that we have been in existence, we have found homes for over 2,400 deserving dogs. We are currently enlisting active volunteers to help with the task of placing some really wonderful, but homeless, German Shepherd Dogs. Our goal is to place all GSDs that are accepted into our Rescue in loving homes in which the GSD and the family will thrive together.
