My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

#A5663721 Meet Smarty , a 2-year-old German Shepherd who’s as sweet and friendly as they come! He’s an absolute delight, always eager to give affection and get cuddles in return. Smarty is incredibly gentle, especially when it comes to treats—he’ll work for them, taking them ever so gently from your hand. As a classic German Shepherd, he’s smart, elegant, and handsome, with a graceful demeanor that makes him stand out. Smarty is still learning how to "play" the right way—he’s curious about balls but doesn’t quite know how to fetch yet (he just hands them back!). He could use some good meals to help him gain weight and a spa day to keep his coat and nose moisturized. With his big heart and warm and loving nature, Smarty  is easily the perfect companion - will you scoop up this sweetheart today?

  • 2 year old black and tan German Shepherd

  • 31 pound neutered male - the perfect pocket sized pup for GS lovers that need a smaller dog!

  • Up to date on all shots and preventatives, so ready to go home with you today!

  • Came to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on 11/14/24 as a stray

  • so friendly and loves people - the sweetest dog!

  • absolutely delightful personality - good with both humans and other pups; would make a great pup sibling!

  •  will work for treats and takes them so gently

  • affectionate and cuddly - just wants to love and be loved on

  • a classic German Shepherd - smart and elegant, very handsome and graceful

  • Has a very cute quirk where he's still learning to "play" the right way - seems curious about playing with balls but doesn't know how - just hands it back

  • needs some good meals and a spa day, so he can gain weight and have his coat and nose moisturized

  • could use some more leash work to be his best self, and may need some potty training

More about this rescue

United Hope for Animals is a 501c3 non-profit organization committed to creating a world where our relationship with animals is guided by compassion and responsibility. We actively work toward bringing an end to the needless suffering of companion animals through community-based programs here at home and across the border.

The United States euthanizes more than one million dogs and cats each year. Through our Shelter Support Program, we work in partnership with local shelters to reduce this number by raising public awareness about shelter adoption and facilitating rescue and adoption of sheltered animals. In the process, we bring dignity and hope to the many lives that would otherwise pass anonymously through the animal control system.
