My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Adorable scruffy Zac is looking for a home in Orange County through Diamond’s Friends Pet Rescue!

Zac is a 9 month old Airedale terrier mix who weighs 43lbs. He may grow to be up to 65lbs. He's neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, on flea/tick/HW preventative, and dewormed.

He is a VERY sweet boy, but he is shy and will need a patient home that wants to help him succeed and build his confidence. He is much more confident with a friendly dog around, so he needs a home with another pup his size or larger. Like most dogs, he also does much better when he's on a schedule and has a routine he can rely on!

This cutie is essentially still just a baby, so he does have energy to spare. He would appreciate a home that is active and can ensure he gets enough exercise (both physical and mental).

Zac is fantastic with other dogs (he LOVES to play!), has been social with respectful, calm kids, and has shown some fear around cats. He likes to take in his surroundings and has enjoyed trips with his doggy foster siblings to coffee shops, Huntington Beach, and Home Depot.

He is quite smart and has started learning basic obedience, crate, and potty training in his foster home. He's doing fantastic with all three! He can be a bit fearful during the night, but his fosters have found that with the right routine and a little CBD before bed, he will settle and sleep for 7 hours. Because he will sometimes bark loudly when he wants to play or gets afraid, we are recommending him to families who have a house vs. an apartment/townhome just so that there aren’t complaints from neighbors. He does respond to correction when you tell him “no.”

Zac is a sensitive boy, and we are anticipating his transition into his furever home will be an adjustment for him, so he will need someone who can be patient with him and wants to work to build the incredible bond we know he will have with his furever person. It’s going to take someone with a special, generous, selfless heart. We know that person is out there and have no doubt that Zac will be among the most worthwhile parts of that person’s life.

If you are interested in changing Zac's life for the better, please fill out an adoption application on our website.

More about this rescue

Launched in 2021, Diamond's Friends Pet Rescue is a Newport Beach-based 501(c)(3) animal rescue organization. We are entirely foster-based and are no-kill. Our mission is to help as many homeless dogs and cats as possible find loving and compassionate adoptive families.

We accomplish this by being good stewards of donations, inspiring dedicated volunteers and fosters, providing education on responsible pet ownership, and being advocates for each animal that comes under our care. Our goal is to make a positive impact in the lives of as many animals as we can.

Diamond's Friends Pet Rescue is named in honor of our founder's late dog, Diamond. She was a fantastic foster sister to numerous dogs and was a friend to every animal she met. It is our hope that many more animals in need will get to be one of Diamond's friends.
