Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
M.I.A. (aka Mia) is a 1 ½ year old hound mix. When this sweet girl came into the shelter she was extremely emaciated. She was placed in a foster home where she was able to recover, gain weight, and learn that people can be just as loving as she is. Despite her rough past, Mia is always looking for a belly rub or a cozy lap to wiggle onto. If you forget that you were petting Mia, she will give you a soft paw slap or a gentle mouthy reminder. Mia doesn’t know that she reached her goal weight and still loves to chow down as fast as she can, so she uses a slow feeder.
Although Mia is very loving, she does take some time to warm up to new people. She is looking for a home that can respect her boundaries and can give her the patience and love that she deserves! As Mia can be a bit shy, we think she may do best in a home without small children. In her ideal world, Mia would find her forever home with someone who is willing to help her continue to build her confidence, provide lots of scratches and cuddles, and who is committed to helping her feel at home and open up in a new environment when she goes home! When it takes a year and a half to be shown love, it’s easy to feel like it can be taken away at any moment. Mia has some separation anxiety, so her ideal future guardian will be someone who spends a lot of time at home, or someone who is ready to teach her that they will always return home.
Mia’s adoption fee is $175. She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on her vaccines! If you are interested in meeting this special girl, please call us at 509-332-3422 or email us at staff@whitmanpets.org to schedule an appointment.
