Piper adores snuggling on the couch and is a wonderful work-from-home companion who is happy to rest her head on your lap. At the dog park, she demonstrates impressive recall. Piper is energetic, so she would love some active companionship with regular walker, jogger, or outdoorsy person.
Although she is shy around new people outside and in unfamiliar settings, she’s becoming better with each experience. Sleepovers and road trips have been great in helping her find ease with new folks! She did awesome on a recent long roadtrip and enjoys car rides -- though prefers the front seat :)
Piper is a quick learner and is easily motivated by treats. She knows several commands: sit, stay, and will patiently wait for her food until given the release command. We're also working on lay down.
Her favorite toy is a ball, and she chews on her toy to release energy before bedtime. We are actively working on building her confidence and improving her leash training; she’s making great progress.
Piper was found abandoned and neglected at a dog park, with a chain collar two sizes too small clipped to fence by a carabiner. Not surprisingly, she has some residual separation anxiety but has received training from K9 PhD. Her future adopter will have one free training session at K9 PhD to help her transition easily into a new home!
Age: 2 years old approx
Weight: 50 lb
Temperament: Good with dogs and kids.
Training: Crate-trained, house trained, knows commands, NO, SIT and CRATE
Vetting: Spayed, up to date on vaccines, HW negative.

To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review. Once your application is approved, we will bring the adoptable pet to your home for a preliminary visit. We are 100% donation-funded and our fees are equivalent to (or less than) the cost to fully vet a new dog yourself.
