My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Moon Pie was brought in by a community member on November 24, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Moon Pie, a resilient girl with a heart as sweet as her name. This mellow girl has been through a lot, but thanks to plenty of TLC, she's on the road to recovery and is ready to find her new family. Moon Pie does have some ongoing health concerns, including chronic ear infections, spondylosis (arthritis of the spine), and moderate dental disease, but her gentle spirit and loving personality shine through it all. She's the perfect cuddle buddy, happiest snuggled up in a cozy doggy bed or soaking up pets from her favorite people. Moon Pie walks beautifully on a leash and would love a calm, caring home to call her own. If you're looking for a loyal companion who will melt into your lap and your heart, Moon Pie is your girl. Come meet Moon Pie today and don't forget to bring a leash and collar!

At SDHS:
Moon Pie has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered. This pet is now ready for their new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
