My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Beau was brought in by a community member on November 3, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Beau, a sweet and shy boy looking for a patient and understanding home. Due to his fearful behavior, Beau is seeking a calm, adult-only household where he can feel safe and secure. He may be a bit hesitant at first, but with time and gentle care, Beau will gradually open up. He's looking for someone who can build a strong bond with him slowly, using treats and playtime with toys to help him feel more comfortable. If you're considering adopting Beau and already have a dog, please bring them along to see if it's a good match. With the right person and a little patience, Beau will reward you with loyalty and love as your bond grows. He's ready to find his new family-could it be you?

Shy/Fearful Dog: This pet requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about them.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
