My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

handsome speckled boy ready to play!

YUMI NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!

Name:  Yumi       Best Guess for Breed:  Lab mix

Best Guess for Age:  6 months as of December 2024    SEX:  Male

Approximate Weight: 39 lbs as of 12/16/24; he is still growing!

Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids or cats but he can be tested if you have them

Currently Living at:  South Carolina shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get his freedom ride up here

Yumi is Looking For:   His forever home! Through no fault of his own this handsome cutie landed in the shelter. He's barely out of puppyhood and hasn't seen nearly enough of the world. He's eagerly looking forward to having his own humans for romps in the park and all the adventures they can dream up. And dog school so he can show how super smart he is. And then pets and cuddles and belly scritches at the end of a fun day together. And he'll want quality kibble and a cushy dog bed. Most of all, though, he wants to know he's safe and loved.

In exchange, he promises to make you smile - and to provide loyal companionship for all his days. What do you say? Is Yumi the one you see by your side?

What My Foster Says About Me:  We will update this once he has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with his foster

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption process begins when you submit an adoption application either online or at an adoption event. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!

Go meet their pets

Our adoption events are held each weekend. A schedule of times and locations can be found at www.luckydoganimalrescue.org.
