Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bongo is approximately 3 years of age, around 23 pounds, neutered, fully vaccinated & microchipped schnauzer/terry mix breed. He IS crate potty and leash trained~ soon he will be a pro of all three!!

He is affectionate, playful but also has a calm demeanor which provides a nice balance. Bongo gets along well with most dogs, adults and children alike. Given his adaptability, he should be able to learn your family’s routine rather quickly and become part of the gang in no time!!!

Bongo was rescued from the streets of TJ by his previous owner but now needs a forever home; fortunately he is now flourishing under the loving care of FHSTJ. (Nov 2024)

Bongo has a lot of love to give and longs for a family who can provide him with the affection and attention he craves. He deserves a warm and loving home where he can feel cherished as a member of the family!!!

We take great care in being sure that each adoption is a good fit for both the animal and the adopter. Once the adoption is finalized, after a 1 week trial period, we follow up with the adopter (sometimes more time is needed) making sure that the pet is well adjusted to its surroundings and its new owner.
We also ask that they take the adopted pet to their Vet to have the pet checked out even though we have done so prior to the adoption.

We have adoption events almost every weekend. Our Adoption events take place at Petco & Petsmart, our adoption partners. We also participate in other adoption events in the city of San Diego, CA, i.e., the Doggy Street Festival (at Liberty Station) as well as all the events sponsored by the Animals Support Foundation, that take place in Grossmont, San Diego.

More about this rescue

The greater Tijuana area of 3 million people and thousands of abandoned street animals needs more individuals doing rescues and organizing neighborhood spay events. FHSTJ Does not run a shelter. Instead, it supports grass roots organizations and individual rescuers. This allows us to serve many more animals at any given time, due to this unique system of support. This is accomplished by giving financial support to rescuers and groups which could not function without the generosity of FHSTJ donors.
In summary, we support street rescues, mass spay and neuter clinics, pet owners with extremely limited resources needing veterinary care for their animals as well as public education programs, adoption programs for rescuers, and a pet food distribution program for animals in need.
