Meet HAZEL, a sweet and loving dog who is ready to find her forever home.
Hazel’s journey hasn’t been easy—her previous owner had to surrender her after a work injury made it impossible to care for her. Hazel has Addison’s disease, a condition that is fully controlled with medication and will not stop her from living a happy, healthy, and full life. Hazel is a dream companion and has been a delight in her foster home. She comes with all the perks of an adult dog—she’s calm, sleeps soundly through the night, and won’t wake you at the crack of dawn. Whether lounging on the couch for a Netflix binge or sleeping in on a lazy Sunday morning, Hazel is your perfect partner. Despite her mellow demeanor, she also has a youthful, playful side. She loves to prance around with a toy in her mouth and eagerly plays fetch, catching toys mid-air and bringing them back every time. She’s also a fan of squirrel-watching and can spend hours happily observing them from the window or yard. Hazel adores her people and thrives on affection. She’ll follow you to the shower to lie on the bath mat or cuddle right next to you on the couch. If you stop petting her, she’ll nudge your hand for more love. Hazel prefers to have her people around most of the time, as she doesn’t enjoy being left alone. However, she’s a fantastic car companion and would love to tag along wherever you go. She’s wonderful with other dogs, big and small, and adjusts her play style to match their size and energy. She even gets along well with cats! Hazel is full of personality, expressing herself with adorable grumbles when meals are being prepared or the treat jar comes into view.
Hazel is a gentle, well-mannered dog who will bring joy, laughter, and unconditional love to her forever family. If you’re ready to open your heart to this sweet girl and provide her with the care she needs, Hazel is waiting to meet you!

More about this rescue

Somerset Cottage Poodle Rescue, established in 2013, is an all volunteer 501c(3) dog rescue funded by your donations. We rescue companion and senior dogs, at risk for euthanasia, from overcrowded shelters and provide them with the medical attention they need. We also redone dogs for owners who can no longer care for them. We do not have a facility so all of our dogs live in foster homes through out the Northern Virginia area until their adoption day. We are proud that we find them perfectly matched forever homes and families. We rescue and find permanent homes for approximately 250 dogs a year.
