My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

For inquiries email lisak@compactcaninerescue.org Fee: $600 Location: Fairfax, VA Jasper Bells is new in rescue. He is a 3 year old miniature Schnauzer. He weighs about 18 pounds. He was rescued from a puppy mill in Pennsylvania where he was valued only for his ability to sire litters of puppies. He has never really been a "pet" before but is adapting nicely to his new environment. He is curious about the other dogs in the home and is accepting of male and female people so far. We do not know if he likes cats. We are taking is slow with Jasper. He is new to "pet life". We want to get to know him before he is adopted so we can place him in the perfect FUR-ever home. Once he is healed from his neuter and dental cleaning, he will be ready for adoption. Get your application in now! Things to consider when adopting Jasper Bells: young, energetic dog will need training for leash walking training classes highly recommended will need grooming every 4-6 weeks will need bathing between grooming appointments to maintain the coat read more about the breedhere currently house training (potty manners) former breeder dog, needs time and patience to learn to be a pet Please visit our website www.compactcaninerescue.org to learn more about this amazing pet and see other adoptable dogs.

Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

After submission we check with the vet you referenced to obtain your pets medical history and the adopters compliance with recommendations

2.

Interview

Once you pass the vet. reference, we schedule an interview to find out more about you, the applicant, and the type of dog you want to adopt

3.

Home Check

If the phone interview is passed we then visit your home to see how one of our dogs reacts to the family, other pets and the environment.

4.

Approve Application

We have a committee to whom the applications are presented. They read over the entire packet and either approve or deny the app

5.

Meet the Pet

More about this rescue

The founding members of our rescue are dog lovers. Especially, small dogs! When we saw the need to help so many small dogs of various breeds and mixes, we collaborated to form a non-breed-specific rescue to help as many small dogs as possible. Our mission is to help dogs who weigh up to 20 pounds.

Adoption is not first come first served. We match our dogs to potential owners to ensure the best outcomes for all involved! Our philosophy is: Rescue - Rehabilitate - Rejoice!

Our mission statement is as follows:
Compact Canine Rescue is a network of volunteers committed to rehabilitating small dogs and rehoming them with forever families on the east coast of the United States. We are passionate about promoting responsible pet parenting and educating the public on what makes dogs healthy and happy.
