My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Do you want to get headbutted on the face? Are you looking for a companion that will stay on your lap when you binge-watch an entire series? Do you want infinite cuddles? Then Bright Heart is your guy!

Bright Heart is the sweetest little angel. He loves humans and can't get enough pets and he will gladly follow you around the house even when he’s sleepy! He would love a home with lots of human affection and attention. He is a purring machine - all it takes is a word or even a LOOK, we swear. He is very, very food motivated (no free feeding for him!) and he even learns tricks easily because of it. He knows how to "come here", sit, and balance on his back legs. :) He does well with other cats and tends to be more active around them, he loves wrestling and running around with a friend.

Bright Heart is FIV+, but it does not mean he cannot live with FIV- cats! They can live happy, healthy lives together as long as they are inside, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and they were introduced properly and get along well. Note that FIV is spread through deep bite wounds (which is unusual for indoor cats used to coexisting!).

Bright Heart came to TCR with a bad abscess that caused a hole in his neck, then he had an upper respiratory infection and swollen lymph nodes. After months of care, he is a very happy and healthy cat - his coat is now very soft, beautiful and medium length with a bushy tail! Though he is healthy now, please keep in mind that routine vet visits are especially important for him given his FIV+ status. He is super grateful to be safe and sound inside, and he is more than ready to be spoiled rotten!

Bright Heart is estimated to be about six years old. He is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, flea treated, dewormed, and has tested FIV+/FeLV-. Apply to adopt this resilient and beautiful cat today! Even through all these struggles, he is always the sweetest little bean and all he wants is to get cuddled and cared for.

Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

Typically we talk a little with potential adopters to find a cat who is a good fit before sharing the application.

2.

Approve Application

We check over the application including checking vet references and doing landlord checks.

3.

Interview

We spend more time chatting with the adopters to specifically go over any questions from the application and details about the specific cat.

4.

Meet the Pet

Potential adopters have a meet and greet with the cat or kitten in the foster home.

5.

Sign Adoption Contract

At the meet and greet, if all goes well, the adoption contract can be signed, the fee can be paid, and the pet can go home!

6.

Pay Fee

7.

Additional adoption info

We try to do our best to make sure we find good fitting, responsible homes, without wasting a lot of our time. Our app has a lot of screening questions which help eliminate potential adopters who might not be serious (they usually just don't return the app), or not a good fit, which is why the in depth interview happens once the app is returned.

More about this rescue

We are a small but dedicated 501c3 nonprofit cat rescue specializing in making one person's garbage kitten another person's forever cat.

Our mission is to reduce feline suffering and overpopulation using a combination of TNR and adoptions. We foster and socialize whenever we have the resources to do so, including behavioral cats and kittens who might otherwise just be candidates for TNR.
